Refining The Montage

Utilizing the montage form to focus on scene work and character study, students will learn to create realistic multidimensional characters rather than cartoonish ones by grounding them in an environment.

Instructor: Courtney Farney
Courtney Farney is an actor, improviser and writer living in Chicago, Il. Originally from Broken Arrow, OK, Courtney has been studying and performing the art of improv for 10 years. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in Theatre Performance where she founded the improv troupe Improv Inc. She’s a graduate of The Second City improv and writing program, the IO Theater Improv program, and a student of The Annoyance Theatre and Acting Studio Chicago.  While in Chicago, Courtney has performed with the improv teams Parmesan, Poultry Ghost and Friends from High School. Additionally she co-wrote, produced, and performed in the two person sketch show Better You Than Me. Currently, Courtney performs with the IO Theater house team, Whimsy Lohan. Courtney is excited about the opportunity to teach and perform back in her home town.
